  • Ages 19–20: 203 Squadron does not currently accept applications for Junior Cadets in this age group.

  • Ages 21 and above: Eligible to apply as a Probationary Officer/Instructor. After completing the required training, you will be appointed as an Officer/Instructor. (Applications must be submitted directly to Headquarters.)

2. I have submitted an online application but have not received a reply. Why?
Like other organisations, the Hong Kong Air Cadets Corps and individual squadrons must consider their resources and manpower when deciding the timing and number of new recruits. Recruitment dates and frequency may vary each year. Please check this website or our Facebook page for updates.

Applicants will be notified by email when recruitment activities are scheduled. Please be patient and avoid submitting duplicate applications.

3. Does the Hong Kong Air Cadets Corps provide training to obtain a pilot’s licence?
The Corps offers regular and specialised aviation courses, including recognised theory courses for fixed‑wing aircraft, helicopters, and gliders, as well as overseas flying scholarships.

Members can also participate in a variety of aviation‑related activities.

4. What training does the Hong Kong Air Cadets Corps provide?

Each year, the Corps organises a wide range of activities to benefit members physically and mentally, including:

  • Discipline and foot drill training

  • Field training

  • Physical fitness training

  • Leadership development

  • Planning, management, and execution of activities/operations

  • The Hong Kong Award for Young People

For details, please refer to Training Programmes.

5. Do I need to attend training during school exam periods?
In December and June, when most cadets face major examinations, 203 Squadron usually suspends regular training to allow members to focus on their studies.

In special cases, such as preparing for the Diploma of Secondary Education (DSE), cadets may apply for “long leave” to concentrate on exam preparation.

6. What does 203 Squadron usually do during training?

Regular parade training is held every Saturday from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the training venue. Sessions typically include foot drill, theory lessons, and physical training, ensuring cadets gain knowledge and strengthen both mind and body.

On special occasions (such as long holidays), outdoor training may be organised, including night hiking, orienteering, mountain safety, survival training, camping, or overnight expeditions. These activities help cadets develop resilience, self‑care, and the ability to support others. Senior cadets also gain practical experience in leadership, team management, event planning, and command—skills that are valuable for higher education and future careers.

7. What are the costs of joining the Hong Kong Air Cadets Corps?

  • Registration fee: HK$100, covering Headquarters administration and cadet record booklet until age 21.

  • Squadron administration fee: 203 Squadron may charge approximately HK$50 annually depending on financial circumstances, though this is usually waived.

  • Uniform costs: Cadets must purchase their own uniforms. The No. 3 Service Dress (worn after graduation) costs around HK$1,000. Cadets receiving full or half textbook allowances or from CSSA families may apply for government assistance to cover uniform costs.

  • Other costs: Fees for training camps or specific activities may be charged as needed. Members may also need to purchase personal equipment for certain activities.

Please note: The Corps is a registered non‑profit charitable organisation under the Home Affairs Bureau. Apart from a small number of full‑time staff at Headquarters, all members serve voluntarily without remuneration. Operations are funded mainly by government and Community Chest grants, as well as donations from society. Some activity expenses are shared among members.
